Diwali 2020 is all about Lights, Glitter and Shopping!

The festive season has just begun. And Indian’s biggest festival, Diwali is two weeks away. The festival of lights will be under mere lockdown undoubtedly, but that doesn’t stop one from shopping the best. Well! eCommerce platforms like Amazon, Flipkart and many others have pulled up their socks for the festive demands. With great discounts and unbelievable offer prices, the two eCommerce giants are all set for round 2.

Although, Amazon’s Great Indian Festival is live for a period of one month this year. The sale began on October 17, (October 16 for prime members) with newly added deals altered on an everyday basis. On the other hand, Flipkart began its first round of festive dhamaka on the 16th October, 2020. There were about 1cr shipments made this year in the first leg of Flipkart’s festive sale. The second leg, i.e. The Big Diwali Sale will begin from today for Plus members.

This year the festive season saw a leap in the smartphone segment. As stated by RedSeer on Zee Business, a Bengaluru based research data organization, total smartphones worth 1.5cr were sold every minute amidst the festive sale. Major players of the smartphone industry included Apple, Samsung,Google and others. This category accounted for 47% of the total festive shopping sales. Mrigank Gutgutia, Director at RedSeer Consulting said in a statement on Reassert,”In many aspects this is indeed a #festivaloffirsts for Indian eCommerce which will build a strong foundation for its future growth”.

As published on ZeeBusiness, a  Forrester report states that from October 15th to November 15th 2020, the festive sale would generate an approximate value of 47,751 cr in the entire month.
