With Amazon’s Great Indian Festive sale round the corner, Amazon India has got its backend sorted. Yes! The largest eCommerce marketplace has now introduced 5 new sorting centers around and across the country. These sorting centers are introduced in order to increase the packaging, sorting process, for smooth and faster delivery.
With the growth of online shopping, the demand too has increased. And Amazon India being the largest eCommerce marketplace in India, the number of orders placed every single day has soared high. Hence, the launch of the new sorting centers.
These centers are located in cities like Vishakhapatnam, Farukhnagar, Bangalore, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad. Additionally, the giant eCommerce marketplace is also expanding 8 of such existing facilities across the country. The total space including the available sortation space accounts for 2.2 million sq.feet across 19 states within India.
In its announcement as published on the Hindustan Times, Abhinav Singh, Director, Amazon Transportation Services, Amazon India said, ‘By expanding and investing in the sort centre network, we are positioned to ensure continued customer and seller delight, ahead of the upcoming festive season. This expansion will create hundreds of opportunities for individuals and ancillary industries especially during this time when economic growth is a priority for the country”.
As per reports, Amazon as a giant eCommerce conglomerate generally uses a lot of automation and technology for its sortation process. These technological advancements are in the form of Auto Sorters and Sort Slides. This in turn helps them to increase transportation and delivery speed across customers and sellers within the boundaries of the country.
